Why Are We So OBSESSED With Rich People’s MORNING ROUTINES?

Written by Kai Voorhees

Vogue has made over three hundred videos showing celebrities morning routines all amassing millions of views. It can be interesting to see how successful people spend the first part of the day. After all, their morning routine sets the tone for the day. But why is it that people seem to love celebrity morning routines so much? And why do people feel so inclined to make them their own?

First, let's take a look at why people look up to celebrities. People look up to celebrities as if they were kings or queens. Some people see celebrities do stuff and copy it in the hopes they will become popular and get attention just like these celebrities. Celebrities bring something interesting to peoples lives. Whether it be their favorite book, tv show, or song. When seeing celebrities’ morning routines, they can see how they set the tone for their days. They hope these morning routines will influence a day full of success, productivity, and happiness. People want to adopt these morning routines as their own in the hopes that they can be as successful as a celebrity they admire.

In order to find out exactly why so many people love celebrity morning routines, I decided to look at Vogue’s videos. On Vogue’s video on Hailey Bieber’s morning routine video, there were many positive comments about her. One user @AJ-zg1nq, commented “okay but this is actually doable for the majority of us rushing around in the morning! It’s just rinsing your face with water, toner and sunscreen! Love, love this!” @carolinaariza8685, added “Finally a morning routine without countless steps and products”. To me, these comments prove just how much people idolize celebrities for simple things they incorporate in their morning routines (or in Hailey’s case, don’t).

Hailey is considered “the queen of the clean girl aesthetic”. I talk more about her in my article “Is The ‘Clean Girl Aesthetic’ Ruining Individuality?”. It is because of her that this aesthetic got all the hype it did. This shows just how people will follow celebrities they look up to.

In conclusion, I think people are obsessed with celebrity morning routines because they think they will be more like the celebrity. Some people might even hope that by copying the morning routine of a famous person, they may become as famous as that person.
